Privacy Notice
What Highland Lakes Finder collects, why, who sees it, and your choices.
Who we are
Highland Lakes Finder is a local directory operated by Local Finder LLC (“we,” “us”). This notice explains what personal information the site collects, how we use it, and your choices. It covers https://highlandlakesfinder.com. Contact: support@highlandlakesfinder.com.
For now, pages ask search engines not to index them. Share only what you are comfortable sharing.
What we collect
What you type into forms. The site has these forms: quote requests (on a listing page and the general Get quotes form), claim requests, removal requests, audit requests, advertising-report requests, tryout postings, business and service suggestions, notify-me sign-ups, and the expansion waitlist. Depending on the form, they ask for some or all of: your name, email address, phone number, business name, town or city, ZIP codes and service area, website address, your relationship to a business, and free-text notes or details about what you need. Some fields are optional. Quote forms also include the listing you are writing about in a hidden field. Each form has a hidden spam-trap field that should stay blank.
Email you send us. If you write to support@highlandlakesfinder.com, we receive your message and email address. Our mailbox is provided by a service named below.
Unsubscribe requests. If you use the unsubscribe page, we store a one-way hash of your email address, the domain part of the address, and the date and method of the request so that we can honor it. We do not store the plain address for this list.
Technical data. Our hosting and network providers receive standard request data when you visit, such as IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, and time, and keep logs for security and operations. We do not build profiles from it.
Public business information. Basic listings contain a business’s name, category, town, address, and similar facts from public sources. This is information about businesses, though some small businesses are named after people.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details; Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data.
Please do not send payment card numbers, government ID numbers, passwords, or health information through any form.
How we use it
- to read and respond to your requests, and to check claims, removals, suggestions, and tryout postings;
- to check that a business is local, licensed where required, and active (public records and license lookups), to send test quote requests to businesses, and to confirm that a person speaks for a business;
- to pass a quote request to a business, or similar businesses, when your request is meant for one;
- to operate, secure, and improve the site, prevent spam and abuse, and keep records of claims, removals, and opt-outs;
- to send service messages about something you asked for; and
- to meet legal obligations and protect our rights.
We do not send marketing email to consumers unless they ask for it. See Section 16 of the Terms.
How long we keep it
We keep form submissions and email only as long as we need them for the purpose they were sent for, to keep records of claims, removals, and opt-outs, to resolve disputes, and to meet legal obligations. Then we delete or de-identify them. Opt-out and removal records are kept so we can honor them. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see below).
Your choices and requests
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it, by emailing support@highlandlakesfinder.com from the address you used. We may need to verify that the request is yours. We aim to respond within 45 days. We may keep information we are required to keep or need to defend a legal claim, or to honor an opt-out.
To stop marketing email, use the unsubscribe link in the message or the unsubscribe page. To have a business listing removed, use the removal request page.
Depending on where you live, state law (including laws in Texas and some other states) may give you rights such as access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to opt out of sales, targeted advertising, and certain profiling, and to appeal a refusal. We do not sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or profile you. We are a small business and are glad to honor these requests whether or not a particular law requires it. If we deny a request and you want to appeal, reply to our message and we will take another look.
Children
The site is for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Youth sports pages list tryouts and events posted by clubs and leagues, and those posts are not meant to include information about children. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us information, email support@highlandlakesfinder.com and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect information, including encrypted connections to the site and access limited to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee security.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice. The “Last updated” date shows the current version. If a change is material, we will say so on this page.
